PREFACE

The purpose of this electronic technical guide is to a) aid dealers with sales presentations to owners and architects, and b) assist specifiers in selecting the sport flooring system that will be most ideally suited to their needs. Additionally, this handbook provides authoritative answers to and opinions on numerous technical questions relating to the installation and care of wood flooring systems. Information has been compiled from the entire sports flooring industry, providing a cross-section of the most pertinent information currently available to a) help develop a more clear understanding of the challenges and solutions that can surround wood flooring systems and b) assist establishing criteria for satisfactory installations and system performance. Any information or suggestions that would make this handbook more helpful are welcome.

This technical guide has been designed to function using a computer's internet browser and third party software called Adobe Acrobat Reader. Adobe Acrobat Reader is incorporated into later versions of the Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator browsers. If a computer has an earlier version, or your internet browser that does not contain Adobe Acrobat Reader, a Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, or XP compatible version will be installed by clicking here. Horner system specifications are also available in Microsoft Word format and corresponding two-dimensional CAD mechanical drawing files in dxf format. These files can be accessed by going to the Specialty Flooring System Files page contained within the appendices of this guide, and selecting the desired file, or by clicking on the respective Word and CAD links provided with each flooring system specification on the Table of Contents page.

Files in this technical guide have been individualized. This allows a user to obtain only needed information. These files have been optimized for viewing on a computer monitor. When printing these documents to a laser printer please ensure the highest printing resolution (typically fine or error diffused mode), has been selected within the printer's configuration settings. This is defined within the dialogue box that is presented when a document is sent to the printer.

In order to more easily obtain desired, a search function has been incorporated into this CD-ROM. Simply click on the search icon contained within the Table of Contents page and a help page will explain how to utilize this function.
